Fact check

We checked the dates: where Blue Ridge holiday listings disagree

The short answer

Blue Ridge's 2026 holiday listings disagree in about a dozen places. The biggest: the 1-hour Holiday Express starts Nov 28, not Nov 27, and runs through Dec 24, not Dec 23. The Gingerbread Village is open until noon Dec 22. The Art Center Holiday Market is Nov 20 to Dec 20. Here is each conflict and the source we follow.

We read every primary listing we could find for the 2026 Christmas season in Blue Ridge, Georgia on Oct 17, 2026, and found about a dozen places where two sources disagree. Most are small: an end date one day apart, a gazebo versus a pavilion. A few could cost you a wasted trip. Below is each conflict, the source we follow, and why.

Nothing here is a complaint about anyone. Volunteer committees and small offices update pages at different times, and last year’s text lingers. Dates can change; confirm with the organizer named in each row before you travel.

How we decide which source wins

  1. The organizer or operator beats a roundup that repeats it.
  2. A booking system that shows actual departures beats marketing copy.
  3. A page that states the 2026 date beats one still worded for 2025.
  4. A named measuring station beats a table with no source.

When the organizer hasn’t confirmed something, we say so instead of picking a side.

The log

What One source says Another says What we use Why

First 1-hour Holiday Express Railway and Chamber pages: Nov 27 Booking system: no 1-hour train Nov 27, only the 4 p.m. Pavilion; first 1-hour ride Sat Nov 28 at 10 a.m. Nov 28, with Nov 27 unconfirmed The booking system shows real departures; the railway could still add trips
Where Santa sits at Light Up Organizer home page: pavilion (Saturday), gazebo (Friday); Santa page: pavilion (2025 text) Organizer schedule page and the Chamber: park gazebo, both days “The downtown park” The organizer’s own pages disagree; both point to the same park

The ones that matter most

Nov 27 is not a Holiday Express day (so far)

This is the conflict most likely to cost a family a morning. The railway’s pages, and the Chamber, say holiday rides start Nov 27. The booking system tells a different story.

The booking system lists no 1-Hour Holiday Express departure on Friday, November 27, 2026; that day only the 4 p.m. Pavilion train is listed. (Railway booking system, checked Oct 17, 2026)

If you’re in town on Friday, the Pavilion train at 4 p.m. is the only holiday departure listed. Saturday at 10 a.m. is the first 1-hour ride. Details are on our Holiday Express page.

The Gingerbread Village’s Monday that is really a Tuesday

The organizer letter asks contestants to pick up houses “Monday, December 22.” Dec 22, 2026 is a Tuesday. The other weekdays in the letter fit 2026, so this looks like one line carried over from 2025, when Dec 22 was a Monday. The public can see the village until noon that day. See the Gingerbread Village guide.

Santa’s seat and the parade’s last block

Neither of these will make you miss anything. Santa is in the downtown park by the depot from noon to 4:15 p.m. both days, and the parade comes back along West Main after turning at Mountain Street. Our parade page shows the route the two organizer pages agree on.

Leftover 2025 details to ignore

Some listings still carry last year’s facts. These are the ones we spotted:

  • Mercier Orchards’ Santa at the Farm. The Mercier Orchards page still shows Saturday, Dec 13, 2025. No 2026 date was posted on Oct 17.
  • The gingerbread count. “62 houses” was the 2025 village. No 2026 count exists yet.
  • The parade map. The route map the Chamber links is the 2024 PDF. No 2026 map has been posted.
  • West Wood Farms. Some tree-farm listings still show it, but the farm says it has closed its Georgia Christmas tree farm. Our tree farm page covers the farms we could confirm.

Weather tables without a source

The Chamber’s December averages are close to NOAA’s, so the difference is small. We use NOAA because it names a station, Blairsville Experiment Station, about 22 miles east, and a period, 1991 to 2020. A forecast is a different thing from a normal; check the National Weather Service the week you travel. More on our December weather page.

December's normal daily high at Blairsville is 52.5°F (1991-2020). (NOAA climate normals, checked Oct 17, 2026)

Questions people ask

Does the Blue Ridge Holiday Express run until December 23 or December 24?

December 24. The railway's home page says December 23, but its Holiday Special Rides page lists rides through December 24, 2026, and the booking system has 1-hour departures on Christmas Eve.

Is there a 1-hour Holiday Express on November 27, 2026?

Not as of October 17, 2026. The booking system lists only the 4 p.m. Holiday Pavilion train that Friday; the first 1-Hour Holiday Express is Saturday, November 28 at 10 a.m. The railway could still add trips.

When does the Blue Ridge Gingerbread Village close?

The organizer says the Gingerbread Village stays open to the public until noon on December 22, 2026. A contestant letter that says December 20 refers to the classroom display schedule.

What are the Art Center Holiday Market dates in 2026?

The Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association's 2026 schedule lists the Holiday Market from November 20 to December 20, with special dates on December 5 and 12 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. A Chamber listing showing November 15 to December 19 differs from the organizer's dates.
